of unconventional men

today i am thankful that i have so many guy friends that are non-traditional. two days ago david found out his company party was going to be last night and it was not kid friendly. this put us in a lurch because saturday night we went out with some friends for dinner and a movie (sidebar: the curious case of benjamin button is aces) and had a sitter that night of course. so like, two nights in a row? we barely get out as it is! so two nights in a row seemed a daunting task. but i had such a good time with tawd and sharon that i was antsy to get out again so i insisted we at least try. after calling or messaging half of our address book our friend nick fancher called back and said he would do it. why do i/we/people default to women/girls to fulfill roles that are suitable for either sex? or think it is odd/out of character for a man to babysit? one of our main babysitters (hi nathan!) is a man. i mean i didnt think it was weird that nick was coming over in any way but i was tickled that he was going to do it solo (though i missed seeing beth his wifey). we got the most funny phone call from nick while we were out stating that our children would not keep their clothes on and we having "naked ho downs" (which is what they call jumping on their beds). i felt such sympathy to nick. this is what i see every night before i go to bed

speaking of nick, sorta, he hath coerced me (but not really) into a mix exchange and ive been pouring over my music collection. the rules are that it has to be music that you have acquired in 2008, it must include original album artwork, and you have to make enough copies for all involved. i hear we're having a listening party too. i get way too nerdy about these kinds of things. i listen to my mix about 800 times before i can finally put it into print and let others listen to it.

& in other news im taking my first crack at making chocolate cherry cordial muffins today. im kinda nervous because if they are made right i can see them becoming my favorite muffins ever.

oh and could i use any more parenthesis in this? (really?)

Ummm, yeah... my sister's kids with no clothes on. In random and untimely situations (Christmas morning!). I can't even begin to picture that... in my parents kitchen. Nope. Not possible. :)

For what it's worth, I live close and babysat for years. Obviously, you would want to meet me in more than a passing moment (Starbucks, Agora...), but I'd totally be up for being on the back up list!
