i know you're all sooo interested but i periodically like to do these. it is really fun to look back and see what a typical day in my life was like --
went to bed last night at 10ish. 4 am, olive woke up crying but david tended to her. i still have no idea what was going on.
normal wake up time around here. it has been so rainy here the last few days that we've sort of overslept with the sun not there to rouse us. yesterday the kids didn't come in until ~8 and augustine has to be on the bus at 8:30 so needless to say it was a cold cereal morning yesterday.
today however i made cherry-blueberry oatmeal for them. YUM
while they ate i went upstairs to wash my hair, put on my face, brush teeth, get dressed, etc. while doing that the dog pooped on the floor in two spots. she was in doggy time out. aren't you glad i didn't take a picture of it!
then it was off to the bus stop.
when i got back home the house still smelled like poop, as only a dog owner can truly appreciate the staying power of dog poop smell. so i lit some incense while i started cleaning the kitchen and processing some more beans from the farmers market. on saturday david and i bought our winter supply of beans and borrowed kjames food saver. i think we'll wind up with about 20+ bags which should last until spring i'd imagine.
and since it is a scientific fact that business is more easily and cheerfully done when you listen to creedence clearwater revival, i obliged my ears and put a record on.
olive played on the porch with my old dollhouse, then moved on to playdoh
while more of the beans were freezing on a sheet i took a break and played around on the internet. highlight of the messing-around was this video my friend amanda posted to twitter:
& then had a dissatisfying make out session with the dog. oh ps new haircut complete with rat tail.
as usual at around 10-10:30 my body starts feeling shaky and queasy because i need to feed it. especially considering that breakfast had little to no protein. so i throw some random things in the skillet and invented my new favorite breakfast (elevensies?) sweet potato-onion-turkey bacon hash. my blood sugar levels are giddy with appreciation.
olive plops in front of the tv to watch carebears while i head upstairs for quiet time to do some bible reading. recently i signed up to do a 30 days of gratitude challenge (i believe a similar but non faith-based version of this kind of challenge is available here) and i'm loving the intensive study on the topic. lunch time was sparse because just an hour earlier we'd had the hash. so it was apples and some sun chips.
then it was time for my little ditty to go to play school. my awesome friend jamie picked her up and off she went.
quick run around the kids room to make sure it continued to be not-wrecked. also, how sweet are these prints? i also made david and i's bed and put away anything unnecessary in the bathroom and wiped down the toilet - my least favorite household to-do item. such is life.
my dad called and wanted to know if i wanted to run to nordstroms with him to pick up some perfume for my mom. i am trying not to freak as i think about being in a very public place and without david. then i decided i didn't feel i was up to it and stayed home. sad face. so he ran to the mall with the intention of coming here later. since i'd cleaned most of the things i had planned to get done today i lounged and watched some x-files until my dad came over. then we watched some more. we hung out and chatted until the kids came home. it was nice
i'm kind of on a mission to rediscover the joys of coffee. i am rather like a caterpillar in that i go through life phases and morph from one to the next when it comes to coffee/tea. i'm kind of on a 3-5 yr cycle i'd say where i get heavily into one drink and then the other. when i'm in one phase i can't really even consider the other as a viable alternative. i had my second cup of coffee in 2 1/2 yrs today. oh and i took my celexa with my coffee. weird combo.
i started making the roasted chicken and prepping the salad for dinner. YUM! while the chicken cooked i washed off the table and put away dishes then since we had quite a while to kill we took the dog on a walk.
augustine entertained me with a silly song.
david gets home and while he hangs with the kids i fold laundry
then dinner - roasted chicken and salad
after dinner we were off to augustine's school for an open house. i've never been inside his school before, only outside. they had a book fair going on and we let the kids each pick something out. his school is soo old but so lovely inside. i love love love old architecture and charm. new buildings have a lot of good things about them but there is just something about turn of the century buildings that suck me in and make me fall in love with them. also, i forgot my camera so use your imagination for a 3 story, humongous school that kind of resembles a court house.
something or someone inside the school (i think it was the staff working the book fair?) smelled strongly of french fries. mouth watering, i probably talked about them a little TOO MUCH and i found david turning our car into wendy's drive thru on the way home for little ol' me. he loves me so much it's adorable. (just last night he was out running errands and came home with a toblerone for me - my favorite candy bar.)
the rest of the night was spent with us on the couch watching the office, then separating into our corners of the house. him watching friday night lights (his new obsession) on netflix, and me puttering around on the computer killing time before bed and reading some agatha christie short stories.
bedtime was 10:15, mostly out of boredom.
fin.
