david and i just made oh, 7 dozen cookies just because.
friday night we went to a community event that was halloween/trick-or-treat-esque. auggie was thrilled all day at the prospect of wearing his fire fighter costume, then quickly chiming in to remind me that olive was going to be a lady bug. (as if i would forget?) any mention of his costume brought on such a reminder of hers. that went over well and despite their costumes being from a standard chain store (old navy) only one other little boy had on auggie's costume (out of around 1000 kids id estimate) and no one had on olive. olive looked particularly hysterical/awesome. we didn't get a ton of candy at this event but we got enough that if we didn't go trick-or-treating on the actual day that it would feel justifiable.
first picture that you can see that olive has blue eyes
just woke up. not loving that we had to wake her

saturday, as previously mentioned we went on our first real date since olive was born. mongolian bbq, grater's ice cream, the bourne supremacy (which i loved!), and some shopping. it felt like a long weekend getaway! happy to come home but you know, sort of bummed too. ive already decided that in two years for our anniversary that we are going to go to chicago for a long weekend together. gimme gimme!
today we went to a neighbor girls birthday party at the little gym. the little girl was turning 6 and auggie was by far the youngest there, though he kept up wonderfully and had a great time despite the age gap and going 3 (!!) hours past his naptime. at one point we saw him sitting on some tumbling apparatus with a ball and he put his head down on the ball and closed his eyes like he was falling asleep. poor little guy! he couldn't stop talking about all the tumbling and dancing they did. i would LOVE to have the kids birthday party (sidebar: remember that their birthdays are only 3 days apart) there next year, though its definitely too old for olive so i just don't know.
oh and something david printed is in the new issue of blueprint! (in the amy butler spread)

midnight ramblings between my best friend and i led me to your now famous youtube video and her eventually to your blog. now here i am.
i try not to be the close minded liberal type, but am often forced to check myself every now and then. you forced me to reassess the meaning of young christian american and for that i thank you. as a jew, i hope you take my saying that you are exactly the kind of christian we need more of in this world as the compliment i intend it to be.
your children are utterly adorable and tonight i include them in my prayers by stating the traditional sabbath blessings said over children:
Ye'varech'echa Adonai ve'yish'merecha.
Ya'eir Adonai panav eleycha vi-chuneka.
Yissa Adonai panav eleycha, ve'yaseim lecha shalom.
May G-d bless you and watch over you.
May G-d shine G-d's face toward you and show you favor.
May G-d be favorably disposed toward you and grant you peace.
i sincerely appreciate you lifting us up in your prayers!
