garden plot

as per request, here is a to-scale drawing of the garden we are working this summer. warning! monster garden plot ahead!

HERE
(to save space)

so here's what on the menu:
8 kinds of lettuce (7 leaf, 1 head variety)
spinach (which isn't coming up at all and we're all huh?)
4-5 herbs
beets
green onion
carrots
cucumbers
canteloupe
watermelons
collards
onions (which are doing really really well!)
garlic (not planted yet)
cabbage
3 kinds of tomatoes
pole beans
peas
1 hot, 2 sweet peppers
broccoli
sunflowers
strawberries
raspberries
blueberries

the flower drawings are spaces in which i planted marigolds, a natural bug deterrent. im also thinking of taking the right portion next to the garden and planting various bug deterring plants (feverfew, etc)

oh and for clarity sake the drawing is one wherein you are looking west when you view it

Another critter deterrant. Someone told me to place cut up garden hose pieces in the beds to keep the bunnies and other garden eaters away. They see them, think they're snakes and stay away. So far, between the fake snakes and the fake owl, my spinach has been fine, unlike past years when it gets munched right away.

Coincidence? Maybe...maybe not.

At the very least, it's a great way to recycle an old chewed up garden hose.

i know of you through holly, since we're both on her friends list. i'm so jealous that you have such a huge space to work in! my garden's only 7.5'x9' but i keep packing stuff in there.
