Stairs are for sleeping

oh olive

olive has been having a few attachment issues with david lately. nothing "bad" but she is just super clingy on him particularly at night and in the early morning. maybe because that is kind of the only time she is certain he will be here? or maybe because she gets a little anxious when she wakes up and he isnt there? (which happens 3 times per week when he leaves at 6:30 or something) there isnt a night goes by that i dont wake up in the middle of the night to david telling her to go back to her room to sleep or to see them cuddling. on the mornings david gets up early she just cannot crawl into bed and wrap her arms around him and go back to sleep because the alarm will rouse her and whoahhh mommy does not want to get up that early! last night augustine begged me to sleep with him in his bed (a full size) and all night long olive kept trying to sneak into bed with david and every time she was sent back in tears. it was so sad but also really frustrating because it went on for hours and hours. she saw him get out of bed and creep into the bathroom to get ready for school and she busted out after him. more tears with being sent back to bed. i finally gave up and just nursed her, which squeaked another hour of sleep out of her before finally we just all got up. days like this are frustrating because we are all cranky and hey, at least i've got coffee & tea to bring my faculties a bit more into a state of "dealing" but a child's head just explodes when they don't get nearly enough sleep. or take naps on the stairs, whatever.

eta:
olive refused to take a real nap today. instead she and augustine pretended that she was a doggie and the bakers rack was her dog house. yeah. then this happened. notice her "doggie snack" she brought into her "house".

That is a pretty sweet picture, even though the story behind it is exhausting. It reminds me of a picture I have of the little boy I used to take care of. He had fallen asleep while brushing his teeth: head resting on the sink, standing on his little stool, toothbrush hanging out of his mouth.

I find it funny that Augustine "went along" with the idea that Olive was a doggy. Dude Jason and I totally did stuff like that to you. Little sisters rock!
