goodbye summer

today is the last day of summer. augustine starts preschool tomorrow. (boo hiss our camera is still being fixed and i won't have a photo of him on his first day! im very sad about this) i am happy about him going overall mostly. we went to meet his teachers and see his room. he loved it and ran around laughing with other kids. how in the world did i end up with such socially outgoing children? i mean it's been a huge blessing. part of me wishes we had money to put olive in a 2 yr old program because she is so ready and so "old" for her age. she is just going to have to deal with being at home with me until next fall though, when we plan on putting her in the same 3 yr old program augustine did and loved. this year sadly none of *my* friends have their children in augustine's class. though i believe kori is taking xiu dan at the same time just not in the same class. kids could care less at this age, me? i like chatting it up with friends in the hallway. sadly my dear friend karen james isn't going to be there because greta is going to another preschool this year. like, you have no idea how many times i cried on karens shoulder in the parking lot last year. unreal and i will fiercely miss it. however i do get to see her at least twice a week otherwise so you know, woe is me.

to end our summer on a high note david took augustine to a bengals game today and i took olive apple picking. sadly i just missed the last of the honeycrisp. file under: first world problems. but olive was so excited to go. she brought the tiniest little basket with her from home that we use to put the kids toiletries in! that's how small it is! i think it fit 3 whole apples in it.

it's not even crisp outside yet and im already thinking about what next summer will bring. right in the middle of church david leans over and says "hey, next summer for our family vacation we could take a tour of the whole east coast! visit tom/robina & andy in brooklyn and olivia & andrew in philly! and my sister maria & duane (and their 4 awesome daughters) near boston!" and i was all \o/ because that sounds AWESOME. however, that would be a lot of driving so we will see. i've also been mentally planning a trip to a festival of some sort. on the table are: rainbow (west virginia, kentucky, or pennsylvania are on the table of possible host states), cornerstone, or p.a.p.a festival. no word on whether p.a.p.a. festival is actually going to happen though. i believe we have sets of friends interested or already planning to go to each so that would be a fun little roadtrip. this would be our first festival with kids which gives it added charm and a new layer of reasons to go.

well on the welcomehome.org site it does list the other states as well as new hampshire & vermont! I trust the welcomehome site cause they always have directions. There should be no expectations with the rainbow family, so just waiting until June of 2010 and checking back is best!

Honeycrisp are fabulous, but do you have Pink Lady apples in your area? To die for!! :) They're in season here right now (SoCal), don't know about over your way.

:)

Oh and if you decided to visit New Hampshire, we're only 5 minutes away. I'll let it go now.
