the way, updated

several people mentioned that the video that i cracked up watching in this previous entry was no longer available. all of a sudden "the way international" (aka the church in the video) hath copyrighted the video and demanded that it and all of the other (hilarious!) videos of similar "performances" (?) be taken off of youtube. BUT! here is a clip of that clip that ran on the soup. try not to tinkle!

edit: to see it in it's entirety visit the way's homepage. and before you get up in my business about being critical of this church they actually do have some very cult-like goings on happening there and i believe from all i've read they are also unorthodox.

Their international HQ is way out on OH-161. I've ridden by on my way to Indiana or other parts west of Ohio. It always leaves me with a slightly creepy feeling while I ride through that town.

The Way believes that Jesus is God's son, but not God himself. Pretty big difference from true Christianity. Thanks for sharing this video... it's too much!!

i can vouch personally for the unorthodox-ness. "way-fers"- as we affectionately call them in my family- do not pray to Jesus. makes me sad :(
(don't worry, i am a far-removed survivor)
btw... my dad actually knew the older lady that was dancing. creepy! i lol'ed at the soup.

so what is their take on who Jesus is and how he fits in to their take on christianity? are they even part of christianity?

they call themselves "believers" rather than christians, and they certainly do talk a lot about God, but they tend to leave Jesus out of a lot... to be honest it never really made sense to me so i just kinda ignored their belief system. i was more weirded out by the way the talked and acted, really. oh, not to mention that a few years ago the 'man in charged' was involved in a major sex scandal.
haha, as you can see, i still have some major issues with the group. it's kind of "the elephant in the room" of our family- my uncle and his family are still in it...
