my vegetable oil powered car is both a source of great amusement and frustration. first the thing is a real dinosaur, a 1982 mercedes td. not so much as a tape player in this thing, no a/c, paint flecking in every direction. oh boy was this thing a change from the sweet jetta wagon we had. but! oh and this is a big but! it is just so us. we are certainly a work in progress (!) but it's a symbol to me of letting go of stuff that doesnt matter and focusing on the practical, the frugal, the better life, the downsized, downshifting life of more with less. like i said it was a bit of an adjustment when we got it but now that i'm on this side of it i say good riddance to that fancy car. i am very guilty of judging hummers. i have a vivid memory of sitting at a light next to one (i swear it's license plate said "Hummble" OH MY GOSH) and i think we gave each other a mutual look of "you are pathetic". forgive me lord of my sinful judging! im trying!
oh &
my daughter is a spitfire if you havnt deduced as much.

cachet - if someone is really interested in converting their car to run on waste vegetable oil i recommend the book "from the fryer to the fuel tank" and checking out the sidebar for grease car's website.
