day to myself, date your spouse

today's haul from the garden

i have the entire day to myself today. the kids are with my parents, attending a "teddy bear picnic" wherein they um have a picnic with their teddy bears. i find this adorable and hysterical and can just picture my children sipping tea and noshing on pb&js with their teddy bears. technically augustine doesn't have one of his own but olive has three in various forms so she is letting aug borrow one for the picnic. i hope my parents take lots of pictures. so because i have the entire day to myself im going to get off of here - i just went thrifting and got some sweet schwag

the kids and i went to a splash pad in powell yesterday. so fun! and free!

also david and i have been going on weekly dates. people, especially parents, DO THIS. date your spouse. we have fallen into the trap of our marriage being eclipsed by the blinding intensity of raising little kids and now that we are "dating" again i can really see the fruits of that spill over into other areas of my life. we went to see star trek, which was fantastic, and then went bowling. im not a bad bowler if i can say that without bragging.

oh oh oh and our 7 yr anniversary is next week and i've never been more excited about giving david what i'm giving him. he couldn't wait to give me my gift so he dropped this baby on me - from the amazing folks at SeaGull Bags

Happy dating! It's alot easier said than done when you have family nearby to watch the kiddos for free. I'm very jealous of you for that. Try paying a $100 a pop for a babysitter. And that's just her fee, not including anything the hubs and I do. Yikes! Needless to say we don't get out much. But we are more in love than ever.

$100?! please tell me you are joking. if not you are seriously being taken advantage of! our families watch our kids about once a month or so, every other week we either hire a babysitter or find a friend to babysit. i am very grateful for my community of friends for this.

I LOVE the whole "teddy bear picnic" idea. Might be one of the cutest things I've ever heard :)

I think that dating your spouse is so important. I'm single, but I see how this affects my friends' marriages. I think it's great! Have fun!
